Whilst a RetroFuzz we teamed up with the great Artcrank team who specialise in cycling inspired exhibitions and hosted our very own exhibition in Manchester. Being a massive cycling geek I jumped at the chance to be involved.
I wanted to keep the concept behind my poster local and Manchester based. Whilst researching for it I found a interesting article about a race which took place in Manchester in the late 1800's called the 6 day race. It's a mental concept in which the riders have 6 days to complete as many laps as possible riding day and night.
After using this as my concept for the piece I got to grips with the design. I love swiss inspired design and designers such as Joseph Muller Brockman so used this style as a starting point.
I was racking my brains to try and tie in the fact that people were riding at night, then I had a light bulb moment...some kind of glow in the dark ink. The second image shows what is visible in the dark which differs to the day.
I also designed the Artcrank t-shirt which was great. Overall it was a brilliant event with some excellent artwork on display.
